Bard College at Simon\\\’s Rock is the only full-time, four-year, highly ranked college of the liberal arts and sciences designed for motivated students ready for college before completing high school. It is an early college. This means that the students typically enter Simon’s Rock after the 10th or 11th grade when they are 16 or 17 years old. The college’s mission is to educate young scholars, ready to engage in a college curriculum before they graduate from high school.

Who is eligible to apply?

Most students apply to the College as 10th and 11th graders. High school seniors are eligible to apply in the fall of their senior year in order to start college in our spring semester. High school seniors who graduate early or at a young age are also eligible to apply.

When is the deadline?

You can start the application process anytime, up to a year before enrollment, by filling out the application form.

They\\\’re still accepting applications for the fall 2022 semester! Completed college applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year as long as space remains available. We encourage students to apply early, and applicants typically hear a decision within two weeks of completing their application.

Cost of Attendance

Due to scholarships and financial aid, the cost of attendance can vary greatly depending on each individual student’s specific situation. In a typical year, over 80 percent of our students receive substantial financial assistance. The numbers below represent the 2021-2022 total costs without any financial aid: 59,519

Financial Aid and Scholarships

All first-year applicants are automatically considered for scholarship awards; there is no separate application. Simon’s Rock offers scholarships ranging from $1,000 up to the full cost of tuition which is renewable for four years. Recipients are selected for academic excellence, extracurricular distinction, personal motivation, and character. More than one-third of first-year students are awarded Simon’s Rock scholarships in varying amounts.

To be considered for need-based financial aid, you must note it on your application as well as submit need-based documentation.

What will you do after graduation?

At Simon’s Rock, our students choose: to stay for four years to complete a BA in a remarkably individualized program, or transfer after two years with an AA degree. Either way, you join an extensive and strongly connected alumni network, On the other hand, studying more than 35 different fields of study provides you with a chance to discover your passion area and many job opportunities after graduation in many scientific institutions.
